Every wedding tells a story, and for this floral designer, itthat story begins with a love rooted in family, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of blooms.
What started as helping her mother-in-law arrange flowers blossomed into designing her own wedding florals—an experience that sparked a passion and ultimately shaped her career. Today, Festoon’s work reflects a signature Southern style that feels both effortless and elevated, filled with airy, organic arrangements and thoughtfully curated details. Whitney Randall told usIn the following Q&A, she shares the inspirations behind her journey, the blooms she’s loving right now, and how she transforms a couple’s vision into something truly unforgettable.
What inspired you to become a wedding floral designer?
I learned all about flowers from my mother-in-law. I used to help her with arrangements when my husband and I were dating, and later we designed the florals for our own wedding. I fell in love with the process during that time and knew I wanted to turn that passion into a career.
How would you describe your signature floral style?
Southern, bloom-heavy, airy, and organic.
What flowers are you loving for weddings right now?
Hellebores, sweet peas, ranunculus, and butterfly snapdragons.
How do you bring a couple’s vision to life through florals?
I take the time to truly understand their vision, style, and priorities, then interpret that into designs that feel personal and intentional. I love layering textures, colors, and unique elements to create something that reflects the couple in a meaningful way.
What detail instantly elevates a wedding’s floral design?
Unique vessels and unexpected combinations of blooms. I love when each arrangement feels slightly different so it doesn’t look like a copy-and-paste design. Creating a moment—like a standout arrangement on the bar with a fun vessel and just a few curated blooms—adds so much interest to the space.
What is one piece of advice for couples planning their wedding flowers?
Give your floral designer some creative freedom. Share your vision, then allow them to run with it and create something unique to you. The best results happen when there’s trust and room for creativity.
